Failed attempts to experiment with magic often result in transforming dragons into these hellish creatures. They are extremely dangerous, and will mindlessly kill any living creature without regard to friend or foe.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Most water dragons inhabit lakes, but Yangtze has chosen to live in (and name herself after) the Yangtze River. She considers herself the guardian of the Yangtze River, and sees to it that the river is kept clean, or at least reasonably so; it is the longest river in China, after all, and it takes Yangtze quite a long while to patrol from one end to the other. She doesn't spend all her time protecting the river, either, but takes nights and weekends off to spend time with her mate. Yangtze is a quiet, peaceful sort of dragon, but don't be fooled into thinking her shy. She just doesn't like talking, but she will quietly and firmly tell off anyone who deserves it.
