Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Omen was so named because his black and red colouration was said to be a prophecy of doom when he first arrived. However, Omen is as harmless as a hatchling, and the only cataclysmic event to occur was Omens sudden popularity with the ladies—making a lot of the males jealous. He's a natural flirt who oozes confidence, but is always kind and respectful. He can befriend any dragon willing to talk to him, and is playfully mature. Though his looks are actually fairly basic, his quick wit and charm make him the most popular male in the clan. He can often be seen strutting around, a slight bob in his stride as if he's dancing to a tune only he can hear.
