Ice Dragons are fierce predators who hunt using their extremely cold breath. The breath of an ice dragon can freeze its prey solid in seconds. The body of an ice dragon is so cold that icicles will form along its skin no matter the outside temperature.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Over the past few centuries, the ice sorceress Godelot has made her name as a mountain savage. Known to be quite cruel, she cares only for herself and whichever draclings she manages to raise, and has little regard for the well-being of others. Namely, she does as she pleases and that is that. The villagers know well to avoid the highest peaks and caves, for that is solely her dominion.

Very aware of her own power, she tends to belittle the males that seek to court her. They come and go, often taking the children with them. A notable exception is her favourite, Thelema, who has stayed to learn and keep her company. Still, even as a mother she knows no tenderness, and her offspring have trouble coming to terms with her callousness—though she sees no wrong in this, provided they grow to be powerful.
