Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Fate means well, but most agree that his attempts to protect the young dragons of the cave are misguided at best. After a Vampire attacked an egg and accidentally killed it, he's been determined to protect the eggs and hatchlings from any perceived threat. However, he takes it a bit too far; he chases any other dragon away from the eggs unless it's a Pink. This has irritated the dragons who have a reputation for being caretakers of the young, such as Season's Heart and Caterpira, as well as the parents of the eggs who wish Fate would just calm down. Meanwhile, the Vampire who accidentally started this fiasco, New Moon, has been hiding from Fate to avoid his wrath.
