Script Dragons are named for the markings along their wings and sides that look almost like calligraphy. The patterns correspond to no known language, and are slightly different on every dragon. These dragons only develop the characteristic markings when they reach maturity, and they are fairly capable with magic once the patterns appear.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Jhaar prides himself on his ability to defeat larger, stronger dragons without resorting to magic. He picked up most of his techniques from humans, who have a method of self-defense that involves defeating an opponent by using the opponent's strength against them. Adapting the moves to work with his serpentine body was a challenge, but Jhaar has always prided himself on his ability to improvise.
