Sunstone Dragons are named after the orb on their tails, which resembles the gem of the same name. Their social structure resembles a lion pride, with one dominant male and several females banded together with their young. They prefer arid climates where they can blend in and dig for minerals and gemstones that they not only collect, but eat. The more gems they consume, the larger their tail stone grows. They are an aggressive breed; it is not uncommon to see two males battling for mates and territory.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Her name means "Spook Fire" in Japanese. She is one of the many daughters of Kentaro and Kiyomi, and was raised alongside her sisters Miko and Kisaki and her brothers Madoka and Koutei. Together the siblings make up the singing group known as Utsukushii Oto. Onibi has the deepest singing voice of her sisters, a truly fantastic contralto. She is also very beautiful, with scales that glitter like fire when the sun hits them just right, deeply curved horns, and a gorgeous fiery sun-stone adorning the tip of her tail. She met her mate, Shishi, when he followed her singing. He found her sitting atop a rock in a meadow, with the sun glittering off her scales. She was the most beautiful thing that he'd ever seen or heard. He asked her out, and soon they were courting. Then they became mates, and have never been happier. They love each other so much, and they always will.
