Glaucus Drakes have curious personalities. They spend more of their time sunbathing and idly floating in the water than exploring. Because they move very little as they float, Glaucus Drakes can ambush prey relatively easily. They can dive to surprisingly deep depths, and eat a variety of fish and marine plants. Most of them live in tight-knit family groups.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

The little girl had long ago decided that if throwing coins into wells granted wishes, throwing wallets into oceans must do the job even better. So it was that she dumped no less than the entire contents of her father's purse into the brink one sea voyage, praying with all her strength for a dragon to call her own. As predicted, God found her payment more than satisfactory, and the next foaming wave deposited a tiny drake at her feet. While her father found the transaction less agreeable, the undeniable bond that had formed between the two (and the captain's insisting that throwing the beast overboard would bring bad luck) convinced him to let the creature stay. Buloxy, as the drake's now known, has been the girl's most loyal and affectionate companion since that day, and riches from the two's treasure seeking adventures have repaid the amount borrowed her father many hundreds of times over.
