Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Shoshannah is stuck between the want for protection from her own kind and the undeniable want for her other clan-mates acceptance. In the end though she bit it. That 'poor' egg. It is of course, the way of initiation into the Krof sub-clan. An initiation that would bring her closer to her own and farther into the darkness that is a monsters existance. Maybe that is why she refused their surname. Merely referring to herself as, Shoshannah. That is also why the Krof's never saw that egg again. Never would they be able to raise it like their own. It would have received love, self knowledge, and acceptance. But the other clan-mates had ridden them of other eggs, so it was not out of the ordinary. Surely Shoshannah did not snatch the egg when no one was looking. Surely she did not fly far off and smash it, smashed it and began to laugh hysterically. She refuses to bite another egg.
