Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its skin is smooth and doesn’t seem to have any color to it.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

At one point in his life, Hyzenrah was an adult dragon named Zarathos.  Zarathos had been a very powerful mage, adept at gaining control over the will of others.  He became power-hungry, amassing a huge army of brain-washed dragons, but before he was able to fully conquer the world he faced another powerful mage in a duel.  Fortunately the other mage was able to defeat him by turning him into a hatchling and casting another spell that would keep him from ever growing up.  These days he only has enough power to exert control over very small animals, the largest being rabbits.  As such, he has created a miniature kingdom, containing only rabbits.  He protects his subjects and they love him for it.  It was the rabbits which named him Hyzenrah, which in their language means "Shining Prince".
