Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Nefasti was the runt of her litter. Not only was she a rather poor fighter due to her size, she rarely got a chance to even practice, as her larger, stronger siblings never let the tiny weakling join them. Her shining moment came, however, once her magic prowess manifested itself. Her spells were frightfully powerful, enough to impress even the critical elders of her pack. This, sadly, wasn't enough, because as far as the rest of the pack was concerned, strength came before pretty lights. Nefasti left her family in shame, thinking herself a failure...and then she met Kalaverix. The green was in terrible shape from centuries of abuse by humans, and his owner Leofric searching hopelessly for a way to restore him. Nefasti saw the chance to redeem herself. She trained Kalaverix using the same techniques her clan used, and in a few months, Kalaverix was as regal as a dragon should be. Finally content with herself, she elected to spend the rest of her days with her new friend....
