Mistlet Pygmies thrive in humid environments and are most content when frolicking in the rain or fog. The cheerful demeanor they exhibit provides a remarkable contrast to their shadowy appearance, bringing joy in otherwise gloomy environments. Mistlets are an especially beautiful sight in long summer evenings, as their streak of vibrant scales catch the fading sunlight. They spend a great deal of their time foraging for edible roots and insects, and sometimes enjoy treats in the form of small fish or frogs.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Pygmy dragons are the smallest category of dragons, being on the same scale as domesticated animals. They are often found around concentrated populations of dragons, relying on their larger brethren to ward away potential predators and leave scraps. As such, the majority of a pygmy’s diet is scavenged. Due to their tiny size, pygmies do not breed with larger varieties of dragons.

Accidentally Inbred Black Pearl is, as his name suggests, a result of mistaken identity. In a very embarrassing incident—one which is a forbidden subject in the Black Pearl community—this unfortunate pygmy's father, Teal Winged Black Pearl, mistook his niece Black Pearl From Dark Swamps for his predestined mate, Teeny Black Pearl. Accidentally Inbred is what hatched from the resulting illegitimate egg. He is somewhat weak and deformed due to his inbreeding, and spends most of the time in the care of the White dragons, particularly White Mage dragon. He also plays with Noir Avrill and Noir Kamill, two fellow Dark Myst pygmies who are not of the Black Pearl lineage and therefore do not totally deny his existence, for even Accidentally Inbred's parents are ashamed to admit that this wayward pygmy ever came about, and most of his family usually ignore him.
