Sophrosyne Dragons are a rare sight, typically making themselves known only to protect and heal the vulnerable. A visit from one serves as a reminder that kindness prevails, and that there’s always hope for positive change. While it is known that they possess the power to reverse botched spells, some claim they can even cure methodically-cast curses. This has never been formally documented, but these dragons have been seen arriving in the aftermath of violence, and the scars of tragedy seem to heal faster in their wake. The feathers of a Sophrosyne have thus become a symbol of perseverance and light in the face of darkness.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Ephraim Goodweather, also known as Eph, is a dragon dedicated to healing, always trying to find a cure to the incurable. He has spent his life trying to find ways to treat diseases, and this has caused him to become isolated from his friends and family. His former mate, Kelly Goodweather, has left him and Eph's relationship with his child has become distant. On top of that, Eph struggles with an addiction to pumpkin juice, constantly fighting his cravings for the orange drink. And on top of all of that, Eph finds himself battling an ancient vampire dragon and his brood, trying to prevent this "Master" from destroying his owner's cave. Hopefully, with the help of his allies, he'll be able to defeat this menace for good.
