Silver Dragons are arguably one of the most beautiful types of dragons. They live in high altitude habitats such as mountains. Male Silvers hunt and eat meat. While not as beautiful or radiant as females, silver males possess better physical attributes, such as strength.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Danel Poppy is the first of many peacekeeping silver dragons of the Cloudtouched Thicket. He is an empathetic creature, and was saddened by the discovery of a maturing vampire dragon trapped in a cave and carefully guarded by Dewclaw when he was a hatchling. He brought word of his finding to Tenderheart.

Tenderheart, moved by her own sadness of Imelda's fate, allowed Danel to visit occasionally as long as Dewclaw was around to guard him from her deadly fangs. Slowly, he was able to help Imelda through the process of learning speech. Her petrified state as a young hatchling prevented her from much of the social and emotional development she needed.

Once Imelda was able to speak, progress increased exponentially. Her outbreaks of violence occurred less and less, and she was finally allowed to leave the cave with the supervision of Dewclaw and Danel.

Over the years, Danel and Imelda have formed a close bond. They hunt together, protect each other, and in dire cases, keep each other sane.
