Spitfires are a desert breed of dragon. Their dull brown bodies contrast with their brilliant turquoise markings, and they only blaze brighter when these dragons fight. Spitfires are notorious for their territorial natures, and the wing-edges of most are ripped and tattered before their first year is out. Spitfires are also noteworthy for their brilliant blue fire, which is used not for hunting or fighting, but rather for making glass caves from the sand, in which the dragons can soak up the sun.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Although born under the warmth of her mother's glass cave, the mother had abandoned Kindle because she had too many eggs to watch over, and a territorial tribe was nearing her nesting ground, forcing her out. When Kindle hatched, the tribe had found her and destroyed the crystal clear cavern. Angered at the renegades, Kindle challenged them, attempting to scare them out of her territory. However, instead of accepting the challenge, they took Kindle under their wing as a temptress, the first female in the clan. When the leader passed away, she was elected to be the new alpha. Later on, she was caught in a huge sandstorm and separated from her clan. She was found by Aubade, a sunsong amphitere, and adopted into her new family. Currently, she is one of the strongest members of her new family.
