This breed of dragon was thought to exist only in legend. Although their name varies between cultures, they are often referred to as “Guardians of Nature.” They are able to channel the forces of fire, ice and lightning, which allows them to wield tremendous power. Seen very rarely, it is thought that they only become active when something is threatening the territory they have chosen to guard. In order to protect their chosen home, these dragons are incredibly adaptable; they have been seen everywhere from remote mountain ranges, to ancient forests, to the darkest depths of the ocean.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Brairtrainer shares the her name with the same wizard who is connected with and owns the dragons who summoned her. Showing up by mysterious means, however, made her life as a hatchling hard. Unlike the other dragons who slept together with Fluffolufogus if they didn't have parents she was taken into the wizard's home until she grew wings. The older dragons treated her with a wary reverence, aware of how strong a Guardian of Nature could be but upset that she was given preferential treatment over the other hatchlings.

As she grew wings the older dragons' thoughts became more apparent as the hatchlings no longer wished to play with her, stating it was unfair to have her on either team. Upset at her treatment she ran away for a short time, and came back only when she was found by one of the magmas who helped summon her. Lord Magma of the Summoning Tier had devoted his life to attempting to summon her, and he brought her back and taught her everything he knew.
