Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Liandryl has a very mysterious personality. No one knows quite what she is thinking and her sparkling emerald eyes give no clue. She is gone most of the day but no one knows where. She returns at night but does not join the other dragons. When Liandryl glides past, the other dragons fall silent until she is gone. She has only one close friend and very seldom makes any sound at all. But when Liandryl decides to speak, all the dragons listen. She seems to appear when they least expect her to. Her human owner, Ysera, has observed that the vigilant guardian dragon, Shienrar, can often detect when Liandryl is nearby despite the fact that she prefers to remain unseen. Sometimes, when Ysera is alone, she swears she can also feel Liandryl's presence even though she can't see the enigmatic dark dragon.
