Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Sylvir Apfel is one of the JavaTiger Clan vampires, all of whom have sworn fealty to Lady Mina and to house Montague and do her bidding without question. Unlike his vampire clan mates, Sylvir neither stalks, hunts, nor enthralls his prey. He has keen senses, but, instead, he frequently uses his sharp eyes and sharp wits to spy for Mina, his liege lady, and often acts as a scout when the group is at work together. There is very little that escapes his notice when he is on a mission. As for how he obtains his meals, he gambles for his food. Why he does this is a mystery, though some dragons say he likes the thrill of the game, while others are sure that he is actually just a bad hunter. He bets favors in forms of secret vampire magic if one can best him in games of chance; if an opponent should lose, blood is the price, for a vampire must eat. This makes for an easy existence; as more dragons than you might think dare try their luck... and who truly expects a vampire to play fairly.
