Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

One of the heads of the Gleaming clan, Darkness Gleaming is not afraid to take on any challenger. He takes care of the clan's defense needs, training other strong dragons of the clan in the ways of combat. Although very strong and a little short-tempered, he would gladly take a blow for any of his clanmates and especially his mistress, Lady YuClara. He currently has nine children he is very proud of, three of which live in the clan. He has a bit of a soft spot for a Blue Nebula dragon named Dreamer Gleaming, the mother of most of his children. In December he was thrilled to welcome a daughter Black dragon, DreamingDarkness Gleaming into the clan.
