Spotted Greenwings are relatively small nocturnal dragons. Easily recognizable by the fleshy appendages growing off of their head and rump, they are most commonly seen in forests at night, leaping and soaring from tree to tree. While generally social, spotted greenwings are very quiet and rarely make any sort of vocalization. Their bodies are unusually warm to the touch, though they are unable to breathe fire. Greenwings are voracious feeders and will consume nearly any living thing that they can fit in their mouths.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Mottled Scales is a perfectly fine dragon, or at least she is now. When she was a young hatchling, she was abandoned by her parents and left to fend for herself at a very young age. She had not developed her sight just yet, and she was cold on a mountainside for many years. The blistering cold had paralyzed her legs, and the other dragons made fun of her. She was extremely depressed for a year, then when she couldn't take it anymore, she asked a group of humans to fling herself into a volcano. She had the intentions of killing herself, but then a White Dragon spotted her, and thinking that she was being sacrificed by humans, he rescued her. Unfortunately, Mottled Scales had gone so close to the boiling lava that the heat had completely destroyed her mind, burning away her memories and her beautiful green splotches. The White had taken her to a friendly Dragon, and she had brewed a potion that restored her to a normal Greenwing. But she never remembered anything before that day.
