Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Strictly Pirate (SP for short) is regarded as a very strange pink dragon. When it was an egg, it did not emit squeaks or whines, but words such as "Yarr!" and "Shiver me timbers!".

At its hatching, the young dragon attempted to find the nearest area of water and pieces of wood to fashion what might have been a boat within the cave. After managing to make something alike to raft, held by spit and reed, SP attempted to recruit a 'crew' to 'sail the oceans and find treasures unknown'. That said, SP failed to realise that it was, indeed, a dragon and the ocean it spoke of was only a few metres across

It was decided that this dragon wasn't supposed to breed.
