This breed of dragon was thought to exist only in legend. Although their name varies between cultures, they are often referred to as “Guardians of Nature.” They are able to channel the forces of fire, ice and lightning, which allows them to wield tremendous power. Seen very rarely, it is thought that they only become active when something is threatening the territory they have chosen to guard. In order to protect their chosen home, these dragons are incredibly adaptable; they have been seen everywhere from remote mountain ranges, to ancient forests, to the darkest depths of the ocean.
Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.
The storm was upon them. Bracing for the gale, the dragons of the hidden cove refused to leave the young and old behind. The mighty hurricane sent strong storm surges crashing over the protective barrier as the winds tore the trees up from their roots. As the storm threatened to seal their fate, a mighty roar rose above the howling winds. A large dragon descended from the sky. With its large, powerful wings it pushed back the raging winds and calmed the foaming waves. Next it flew through the clouds, cutting them to ribbons with its lashing tail and strong wings. Within a few moments the storm was gone and the sun shone through the blue sky as the powerful guardian landed in the cove. It approached a baby who had gotten separated from its mother during the storm. with a gentle nudge the guardian calmed the frightened dragon who instantly clung to his tail for comfort. Turning, the dragon realized the others had emerged and bowed to him to show their thanks. Timaeus was their hero.
