Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has bright blue eyes, and is as clumsy as any other hatchling, but it never seems to get injured.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

The first, she falls, bonking her head. She shrieks in fear, thinking herself good as dead. The woman of the house hears her cries, lifts the mouse up looking her in the eyes.

"Please, spare me," The first little mouse squeaked. "Me and my siblings were only here to eat."

The woman smiled, looking the mouse over. "Why," She spoke, "You're no more a mouse then ol' Rover."

Carefully, she set her down back upon the floor. "Scat, little mouse. Out the door."

The first blind mouse, the first non-mouse, ran out the door.
