Seasonal Dragons take on the characteristics of the season during which they are born. Thus, eggs that are laid in spring match the pink flowers and green buds of spring, and those that are laid in the summer grow to depict the bright green of the forest trees and the yellow of the sun. Eggs laid in autumn display the bright colors of leaves falling from trees, and those that are laid during winter take on the appearance of the icy snow.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Kyzaro was once simply another in his clan, humble and hard-working. Through sheer skill he rose to leadership, a battle for the crown fought and won. The pinnacle of his life soon fell, when a terror arose from the darkness. A deformed dragon, Lankharra, a prince who murdered his brother following a series of misunderstandings, declared war on Kyzaro's clan. The battle was harsh and both sides lost many, but a misjudgment befell Kyzaro, a huge gash torn up his side and plunging him into unconsciousness. Upon awakening, the scene of total devastation lay out before him—his tree home burnt and the bodies of his fellow clan members littered the ashen ground. In that moment everything had been taken and Kyzaro was alone. He traveled the land, warning others of the threat, before turning back to Lankharra's lair. A great battle was fought, a battle to the death. The beast that was Lankharra threatened Kyzaro, saying "You will be with your clan soon."

   The reply was simply, "I know."
