Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.
Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.
User Description
On dark, moonless nights, a distant unearthly shriek may sometimes be heard shattering the quiet. Much like the wail of the banshee, this terrible sound portends imminent death, for it is the sound made by the vampire dragon Zulaykha as she flushes her prey. For the unwary nighttime traveler, hearing this sound nearby means it is already too late. However the alert traveler may catch an early warning sign that Zulaykha is stalking all the frogs and insects in the area will fall mysteriously silent.
This pale, lean phantom hunts the outskirts of the Talynwaere protectorate, preying on dragon, beast and folk alike. It is fortunate that her kind does not need to feed often, and much time often passes between hunts. Feared and reviled by the local colony of dragons, she dwells in a separate lair some miles away, with a small coterie of vampire dragons. Occasionally they steal into other colonies and infect poorly attended eggs, adding them to their vile bloodline.
