Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Anna is a Red Dorsal dragon. She wants a mate, but has not found one yet. Anna enjoys the taste of small birds, but it is hard to catch them since she doesn't have wings. Instead, she has beautiful red fins on her back and neck. She is a kind dragon, but very stubborn, and when hunting she will not give up until she has caught her prey. She enjoys watching the hatchlings play, and was terrified when she saw her first Vampire dragon hatchling, she thought it was dead, but soon realized that it only came "alive" during the night. She is best friends  with a Black dragon named Shadow, and they can be seen practicing hunting skills in the evening.
