Crystalline Dragons are a northern breed with icy skin and a ferocious temperament. Their scales are highly reflective and translucent, giving their hides a characteristic “ice crystal” appearance. Large and solitary, they roam mountainsides, tundras, and frozen wastes searching for food and occasionally mates. They have expansive territories and don’t generally roam far outside. If two similarly sized Crystalline Dragons do encounter each other, a vicious and explosive fight is soon to ensue.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Iwazume is always eager for a fight, believing that she is at her most stunning while in the midst of battle. Every day as she patrols her territory, she makes a few detours here and there to clean her scales, sharpen her claws, and polish the hide of her wings. Travelers have learned to identify areas Iwazume has passed through by looking for claw marks on the trees and scrapes on the rocks. While this means that most of Iwazume's potential opponents can easily avoid her rather than directly confront her, she is happy to take the opportunity to spend more time preening so she can always look her deadly best.
