Deep Sea Dragons, as their name suggests, spend most of their time in the darkest depths of the sea. They have a bioluminescent dorsal spine that serves to attract prey and communicate with their own kind. As with many deep sea animals, they generally eat whatever they can manage to bait. They rarely leave the ocean floor, surfacing only during breeding season. When they do choose to travel to the shallower depths, they avoid bright lights and will only come up far away from shore.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

A knife plunging through eggshell. That was the first experience Takali had of the world outside his egg, his former tender splitting it open. Maybe it was meant to kill him, maybe to save him—Takali swam away before he could find out. While the signs of forcing are gone from his body, they are clear in his mind. He is a cynic, believing that everyone will do everyone wrong if they can get away with it. He hides in the deep ocean trenches not out of comfort—he's not comfortable anywhere—but out of a nearly constant fear of attack. Takali'll never accept an offered gift, fearing the hidden catch.

Various members of the flight try and improve his disposition, trying to ease him into friendship whenever he comes up towards the surface. They are all turned away—but now and again, there's a sad look in his eyes. He knows these dragons and their tender have been good to him. He wants to be their friend. But in the center of his heart is an image: a knife plunging through eggshell.
