As the nocturnal relative to Sunbeam Drakes, Moonglow Drakes are a secretive breed most active under the light of the moons and stars. They are wary of others, but are known to have incredible loyalty should their trust be won. Catching sight of Moonglow Drakes as they dance amid the moonlight is seen as a favorable omen by those they live near, and tamed individuals are common. They are slightly smaller than their cousins, averaging around the size of a cat.
Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.
User Description
One dark winter evening, a young Night Glory Drake appeared at the window of a farm. What had attracted the shy creature to the candlelit dwelling is not quite clear; maybe it was the smell of food, or the novelty of a brightness the likes of which she had never seen before. Perhaps she was just too tired after her first flight and needed a rest. The farmers, far from being scared, marveled at this strange "bat" and decided that she (like the insect-eating bats) must be a beneficial creature, maybe even a guardian spirit. They set her free and made sure to leave food for her on the window sill every evening.
She is now known by all villagers by the name of Magistra Nocte, and they call her name whenever their cattle are sick or the crops are threatened by locusts. Of course she has no influence whatsoever on cattle or crops; but she thinks it would be a shame to let all the nice food go to waste, and besides, she never claimed to be able to help them, so she is not really a fraud.
