Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It enjoys gathering pebbles and other small rocks and putting them in a pile.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Valn is rather inactive for a hatchling. She likes to keep to herself most of the time, and doesn't socialize well. She collects all the pebbles and rocks she can find and sorts them into groups—she can keep herself enthralled rearranging them for days on end. Her only friend is a stone hatchling named Jaspair. She thought the young dragon was an oddly-shaped rock and tried to drag her off to her collection. Oddly enough, the other hatchling found it funny, and they've been friends ever since.
