Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

While he's both courageous and kind, something prevents Shows from quite being a hero... namely his firm belief that all creatures other than himself and other gold dragons are quite dull! While this belief sounds rude indeed, the truth is a bit more complex; people are so stunned by the sudden appearance of a kindly, dazzling gold dragon that they go quite slack jawed, leading him to little other conclusion than that they are, indeed, mute. His mother agrees with him on this, for similar reasons, leaving his poor father quite flustered. Maybe someday he'll manage to show his wife and son the truth, but they're so busy guiding people through the jungle currently that it's hard to find the time to go show them a real city!
