Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It enjoys playing in shallow water.

And look! It has grown fins, and likes to make bubbles in the water. It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

GoldfishFrills is a darling Goldfish Dragon hatchling. She loves to swim, and is just short enough to comfortably swim in the shallow lagoon that is her home. She spends a lot of time chasing small fish and collecting pretty shells. Sometimes the shells have a little creature in them, but not for long. Yum. She has always wanted to swim in the deep water, and one day she tried to. She almost drowned, but she was lucky a visiting Water Dragon spotted her, and saved her life. She still longs for the deep water, but knows she might never be able to.
