Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Icicles keep forming on its body, but it doesn’t seem to be bothered by the cold.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

SecretWinterMoon is an Ice Dragon hatchling who is very shy. He has problems talking to any strangers, and he often is nervous just to be around other dragons. He spends a lot of time with his parents in a private cave a bit away from the main cave. He spends a lot of time by himself. He never feels lonely. He is happy to play his own games, to explore and to enjoy life all by himself. But he does hang out and play games with the hatchlings from his cave sometimes and does have friends. He's just a bit more private than them.
