Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Firra is nothing but a trophy to her owner, often forced to prance around the village to show off her gleaming scales and precious wings. The other dragons have long ceased treating her as an equal, being either green with envy or nearly sick with pity. That is, if they don't have the golden color she does.

Dragons like Ku'braazi and La'nama, who share the same shine on their hide, spit on the opinions of the others and proudly stand by Firra's side. And, as each day passes, their presence makes the Tinsel's stance a little bit more confident and shines a little bit of light in the dark corner she's been hiding in.
