White Dragons are pacifists and specialize in extremely strong healing magic. The only limit of this magic is that it can’t bring back the dead. They only eat plants and never kill living things.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Quietly pragmatic Ixjai recognizes that one dragon's healing magic can only do so much. Bonescale Weyr is both ideal for her and a terrible place for her to live. The struggling weyr needs someone who has the heart to practice triage, not an idealist who would drain herself dry during the first big disaster, but there's little hope around to battle Ixjai's natural pessimism. Still, at least Bonescale Weyr has a future, even if the weyr will never flourish. Ixjai has listened to enough of her mother's family stories to know that her life could have been a lot worse.
