Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. When it basks in moonlight, it is surrounded by a faintly glowing aura.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This hatchling lives in a rocky wasteland. He has to be careful where he sits to catch the moonlight, because of the wolves. More than once he was peacefully sitting on an outcropping when a rowdy wolf pack, wanting to howl, chased him away from the spot.

Nautwolvood is unsure whether the wolves want to have him howl with them, want to eat him, or just want to keep the moonlit backdrop for themselves. He prefers to avoid anything that can snarl with that many teeth.
