Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

The Magi, Tamrisaa, was in a foul mood on that now infamous July afternoon several years ago. Some of the younger dragons had been doubting her magical skills and she'd had enough of their taunting. She marched over to the group of them and said, "Watch this! I shall turn this stone egg in to gold!" And so the young dragons gathered around and watched Tamrisaa cast her spell. The egg wobbled, then spun in place and then, amazingly, it transformed! Unfortunately, it turned in to cheese instead of gold. The young dragons laughed and laughed, Tamrisaa was humiliated, and they all soon forgot about the egg made of cheese. That was until, against all odds, it hatched! Little Wenslleydale emerged and was immediately part of the family. Despite being a mistake, and made of cheese, Wens is a friend to everyone and always the life of the party. Now nobody can imagine life without him.
