Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Juods was once the happiest dragon in her clan; joyous and energetic, she never missed a chance to wander around the countryside with her new mate, Bavince. She never minded others' exasperation, realizing they'd probably been ancient long enough to forget young love. They were the happiest couple in their clan...until the Plague. Now, she spends her mornings coaxing him to eat even a little, watching anxiously as he stretches himself on his favorite ledge (it overlooks the forest on one hand and the ocean on the other), and generally being available when he gets needy. She does her best to understand that it's not his fault, that he never fully recovered from that illness, but their happiness is slowly crumbling before her eyes, and she doesn't know how much longer she can stand to be needed.
