This breed of dragon was thought to exist only in legend. Although their name varies between cultures, they are often referred to as “Guardians of Nature.” They are able to channel the forces of fire, ice and lightning, which allows them to wield tremendous power. Seen very rarely, it is thought that they only become active when something is threatening the territory they have chosen to guard. In order to protect their chosen home, these dragons are incredibly adaptable; they have been seen everywhere from remote mountain ranges, to ancient forests, to the darkest depths of the ocean.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Warm Welcomes' arrival to the weyr had long been foretold. Many years ago, whispers began to flutter between the dragons of the world, speaking of the return of these ancient guardians. Preto Osso and Winged Nimbus, the Alphas of (what was then) a small and newly-formed weyr, took keen interest in these tales and kept their eyes wide open for their own Guardians.

Many years passed, and the sensationalism of the Guardians drifted into living memory. Winged Nimbus had to divert her attention to the care of their weyr, but Preto always took a few moments from his days to scour the mountainside for any flash of purple.

Warm Welcomes did eventually show up, albeit quietly. Nobody, not even Preto, had expected the massive dragon to simply peer her head around the Stone guardians, asking sweetly for a moment of the Alphas' time.

The sheer primal force of her magic can be felt with every step she takes, and as such she is currently a source of extreme wariness for the settled residents.
