Shallow Water Dragons are found in tropical regions where the water is warm. They use their magic to hunt, using bubbles to capture small fish and animals. Their large, webbed feet make them excellent swimmers and they are able to move at very high speeds. Due to their bright color, these dragons are easily spotted in the lagoons where they live.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The youngest and final offspring of Ace and Meleonie, Aielyn could be considered the luckiest of her siblings. When Meleonie escaped Creorluna, she managed to steal away Aielyn as well, sparing her the gruesome fate of her brothers.

Raised in a quiet cave in the hillside, the same one Leeta Coldflame once inhabited, she was sheltered and protected from the pain and blood in the valleys below. But not the rigorous training. Her mother taught her to defend herself within days out of her shell.

She needs to be well-prepared for what could be a terrible future; she is her mother's biggest weak point. The only member of her family who she still feels like she has the power to protect.

Aielyn has never met her father nor either set of grandparents or great-grandparents, she knows them by name and rank within the clans only. Despite this, she bears many of their traits; particularly the Staramber family resemblance and Ramor's rash behavior coupled with Bolero's impatient temper.
