Guardian Dragons have large shields on the end of their tails. Although the shields appear to be heavy, they are light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian Dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Also known as 'The Keeper' or 'The Keeper of the Clan', Gilgasion's defensive ability is seconded only by The Elders. It is his duty as the Keeper to maintain order and peace; though his main job is to protect the clan members against any attacks, ambushes and traps from the wild dragons, he recently found himself spending more time chasing away the troublesome gangs of The Warriors from picking fights against weaker members of the clan. Having enough of the situation, Gilgasion recruited able members of the clan to form his Squadrons.

Now, approved as the commanding leader of the clan's Squadron by the Breeder, Gilgasion's protective duty was dropped. He now spends his time training the Squadron dragons, and if the training session is off would keep a close eye on the The Warrior's leader, Hamun, to ensure she fails in her attempts to attack-and hopefully kill-her arch nemesis, Nettraphim by intervening.
