When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Gyerados belongs to Tellerz, a dragon collector who lives in a cave near the sea. The area is remote, with plenty of room for the dragons to roam. The cave is large and has many caverns, and plenty of shelter for all the dragons. It is here that Tellerz raises her eggs that she collects while hiking high up in the peaks.

Gyerados lives in the ocean near Tellerz's home, unable to walk on land and enter the cave. He patrols the seas in the area, and keeps an eye out for trespassers. He is mates with the sky dragon, Karlzadoosh, and the two often fish together in the ocean. Gyerados is happy to give Karlza a boost when she needs to take off from the water. He is an adept fisher, and can swim very fast.
