Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Leiran-Dark, or just Leiran for short, is often labeled the leader of the 'an Ishtoya' clan. She came late into the group, but her observations of battle gave her a quick wit and even faster claws. She accepts the position hesitantly, doing so only under the condition that the clan be led by a group, and not only a single dragon. Leiran noticed her larger size and darker scales shortly after hatching, and for most of her hatchling-hood, she loathed the appearance. She longed to be like her kin, but only after her wings grew in was she able to understand that these differences made her stronger, and she learned to live with them. Her mate, Syvet, is nearly always by her side, his silvery scales contrasting her greatly, however, none of the others in the cave have ever pointed it out.
