Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The most arrogant dragon in the Cave- more snooty than even the little Sunrise hatchling Primella- Hylar has an almost impossible level of self confidence. As the only Gold dragon for miles, he never loses a chance to rub in how dull and unassuming other dragons look, even the Silvers who he views as more common versions of himself. Even so, Hylar has taken many mates over the years, and has yet to stick to any one female. The more daring dragons have even made a contest of it to see which one will be the female to finally get him to settle down. It's unknown how Hylar will react if another Gold finds their way to the Cave- several dragons are betting on hysterics, while others are certain he'll simply try to drive it away.
