Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Noel and his older brother Nicholas are rarely seen in the cave, appearing only during the Christmas season. In fact, no one knows where they spend the rest of the year and they both refuse to answer any questions regarding their whereabouts.

Noel takes charge of the younger dragons and hatchlings during his stay at the main cave. He regales them with festive stories and teaches them new games and songs. If the dragons have all been very good since his last visit, he will give them treats such as marshmallows and candy, which many of the dragons, regardless of age, adore.

Sometimes during his yearly visit, Noel is spotted talking to a large fat man in red and white furs. None of the dragons know who this human is and are deeply puzzled on how he manages to get into the cave without alerting any of the dragons on guard duty.
