Skywing Dragons spend most of their lives flying in the air. They hunt from the air, diving at prey from above, and land only to rest. They are some of the fastest fliers, capable of extremely high speeds. The webbing at the end of the tail acts as a rudder, allowing them to easily change direction during flight.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

It is little things that govern the world, and it is little things that can change it. Lazarius, proud and prime, was the lord of a sizable patch of grassland before an idle hunter decided to shoot him for sport. In the flash of an arrow, unseen from below, the great dragon took a sore wound to the breast and lost the ability to fly, and was left as nothing but a great pale worm writhing upon the earth. A lash of his sizable tail killed his crippler, but it mattered not: his world had changed.

His world was gone.

A thousand years have passed since that day, but Lazarius remains. Bereft of flight and land, he creeps about the earth in the manner of lesser beasts, eating what he can and making his dens in low places. But always, always he looks upward, dreaming of a memory, screaming in longing of the sky.
