Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.
Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.
User Description
Refraction lives in the upper area of the Plains of Repose. He enjoys taking to the air almost as soon as he wakes up. He gets along very well with other hatchlings, usually spreading his wings to amaze then. The sunlight bounces off him causing a dazzling array of colours to appear on the trees and rocks. Refraction is extremely clean, always taking a dip in the lake before he leaves his lair and when he is about to come back. He is very easy to please if one knows how. Berries and other small fruits are a great way to get him to open up. There is one drake that catches his eye but he is always too shy to approach Teakalp and tell her. Instead he admires her from a distance as she preforms her aerial acrobatics.
