Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Icebound Galsreim was laid and hatched in the harshest blizzard Galsreim has ever known. The first feeling he knew was cold, and his first sight was the blurred white of a blizzard. His parents journeyed with him to the haven that other holiday dragons had created. When the shock wave from the ritual that stopped the blizzard reached him, it seemed to change him somehow. He and other eggs and hatchlings caught in the shock wave seemed to be changed. Some just stopped growing and others had minor changes in their colors. Icebound Galsreim gained the ability to create a miniature blizzard wherever he focused his will. He was adopted by the Dragon Keeper shieldwielder, who gave him his name because of this uncommon ability.
