Skywing Dragons spend most of their lives flying in the air. They hunt from the air, diving at prey from above, and land only to rest. They are some of the fastest fliers, capable of extremely high speeds. The webbing at the end of the tail acts as a rudder, allowing them to easily change direction during flight.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a more graceful dragon than Lavanie—or picky or stubborn for that matter. At birth, she was betrothed to Rase, but it quickly became clear her preferences would keep anything from ever happening between the two.

She's proven an impossible wit with her tongue and a terribly hard female to impress. Typically passive-aggressive and prone to fits of vanity, she puts herself on a pedestal no one can quite get up to. Even her childhood best friend, Janyae, is often a victim of her critical scrutiny.

Lavanie does, however, have one particular secret weakness. She has rather fragile wings and on many occasions has broken them. In fact, this is the reason for her grace. Her mind is constantly trying to ensure there isn't the slightest opportunity of her being grounded again and she has become a bit of a show-off with it as well.
