Ultraviolet Dragons are a heat-loving breed that are most commonly found in hot, arid environments. These hardy dragons are omnivorous and will eat both plant and animal matter, even species with thorny physical defenses such as cacti. They are generally peaceful and often quite friendly, but males will become aggressive and cantankerous during the breeding season. Intense fights take place over females, sometimes resulting in injury for both combatants.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Nikko has an oddly particular taste for cacti, and spends much of his time in the deserts, looking for new plants to snack on. He sometimes brings back pieces of cactus to the caves, teaching the hatchlings which types to look for and how to avoid the spines if they are in need of food in the deserts. His living space is littered with dried cactus flowers; Nikko makes a habit of trying to plant a few seeds each time he demolishes a cactus for lunch.
