Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s brightly colored and chirps quite often.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Rosepaw is the first Apprentice Dragon in her cave, meaning that instead of taking on full duties and growing up, she was frozen and will continue training for the rest of her life. Generally the cave owner does not like doing this, and only freezes a hatchling if it is close to death. Rosepaw, however, was frozen because she was not becoming serious enough to take on full responsibilities. The young dragon even said she wanted to be young all her life. So, she was frozen and will spend her life in training and lesser duties under her mentor, Flamingscales. She is a sweet dragon, though a little hyper at times, and a good friend to all.
